A two man team from Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), Ahmadu Bello University chapter, made up of Mr. Haruna Umar and Suleiman Abubakar paid a visit to the campus recently. The visit was to discuss with the University management on how they intend to fight examination malpractices in preparation for the  2017 IJMB examinations.

Welcoming the guests, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, on behalf of the Students and School Community welcomed the visitors to the institution. He assured them of the University’s commitment to collaborate with them and stamp out exam malpractice.

Giving the developmental strides of the University, he re-iterated that one of the Institution’s core values is transparency. The Vice Chancellor added that the University wants a high success rate this year, as it has prepared its Students with the task ahead.

“We have every reason to expect higher passing rate this year, past questions are very necessary, the strategy adopted is very important and we would do anything to make the job easy’’ he said.

Prof. Izevbigie assured the delegates that the University would help make their job successful.

According to the leader of the visiting team, Mr. Haruna Umar, he said the matriculation board needs the help of the University to battle examination malpractice that may occur during the 2017 IJMB Exams.

“We need your help to curb examination malpractice; the program has existed for years; we are here to assure the University management  that there would not be any problem during and after the exams” he said

Haruna mentioned that examination malpractices have become a nauseating phenomenon in the Nigerian education system, thus posing a major threat to the standard of examinations in Nigeria.

He congratulated the management for ensuring that workshops and laboratories are readily available for the students. The IJMB team leader expressed satisfaction at the University’s adherence to quality assurance, while appreciating the University Management for their hospitality.

He assured that IJMB would do all that was needed to checkmate the challenges of exam malpractices, especially in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, approval has been granted to the delegates of IJMB to go ahead with the practice.

Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) is an Approved, Proven & Certified Advanced level programme specifically designed to provide an opportunity for candidates who cannot gain admission to regular degree programmes in Nigerian Universities.
