AEP 912 Applied Production Economics 3 Credit Units
Advanced treatment of production functions in agribusiness ventures, application of linear programming to farm production problems, recursive programming. Return to scale and farm size. Time factor, rewards and resource allocation. Decision making under imperfect knowledge, agricultural supply and demand functions.
AEE 913 Advanced Farm Management 3 Credit Units
Advanced treatment of management concepts, farm decision making, farm planning methods, risk and uncertainty in agriculture; investment analysis; current issues in farm management development.
AEE 921 Agricultural Marketing 3 Credit Units
The role of agricultural marketing in economic development, international aspects of agricultural marketing. The measurement and use of various types of elasticities, methodology in price analysis. Application of economic theory to analysis of market structure and its impact on conduct and performance of the agricultural industry in relation to the other sectors of the economy. Evaluation of the effects of current public policies and arrangements under which the marketing system operates in agriculture.
AEF 915 Agricultural Credit and Rural Finance 3 Credit Units
A survey of the place of credit and rural finance in agricultural development. Credit targeting and loan portfolio regulations and rural development strategies.
AEE 914 Agricultural Development Policy 3 Credit Units
Analysis of policy processes, theoretical and empirical treatment of relationship between goals and programmes in agriculture. Effect of policies on volume and location of output, price and income in the Nigerian economy. Role of beliefs and value in structuring agricultural policies. Economic framework for analysis of agricultural policies. The process of policy formation in agriculture.
AEE 922 Monitoring, Evaluation and Management of Agricultural Projects 3 Credit Units
Survey of Comparative Agricultural Environments, Purchasing, Handling and inventory management, Valuing project contributions, Government policies, Services, Regulations and implications of non-compliance.
AEE 923 Rapid Rural Appraisal and Community Development 3 Credit Units
The philosophy, scope and techniques of rapid rural appraisal, methods, extension communication and community development, implications of rapid rural development in agricultural development. Emphasis on application of different tools of the trade of the trade of decision making.
AEE 924 Agricultural Data Systems and Processes 3 Credit Units
Economics and other characteristics of modern agricultural data gathering and storage processes. Relationship between agro-industrial structure, business conduct and data base and data bank. Evaluation of data processing performance.
AEE 926 International Trade in Agricultural Commodities 3 Credit Units
The concept of comparative advantage, terms of trade, international regional specialization and balance of payments. Analysis of price trend, volume and composition of trade of major agricultural commodities. Tariffs and other restriction to world trade in agricultural commodities. Effects of major regional grouping on world trade in agricultural commodities.
