Activities marking the 12th convocation ceremony began yesterday with a special convocation service which held at the University main auditorium, Peniel chapel.

In his sermon entitled, “You are as important as the problem you solve” the guest preacher, Bishop Matthew Egwowa charged the graduating students to see themselves as solutions to every problem on earth. He said the quality of a man is determined by the amount of problem he or she is able to solve. He however added that any organisation which is not prepared enough to solve the problems of humanity, cannot stand.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ernest B. Izevbigie while speaking at a press briefing, announced that the University is set to graduate a total of 902 students. He also disclosed that the University’s School of Post Graduate Studies will be graduating its first Ph. D student at this year’s convocation.

The Vice Chancellor however disclosed that the University is in the process of collaborating with some leading Universities in Israel particularly in the area of ‘Energyneering and Agriculture’. He said that Benson Idahosa University will be the first institution to commence studies in renewable energy solution in the country, through biogas engineering for landfill; there by converting waste to wealth.

Identifying the 12th convocation as historic, the Vice Chancellor said, Benson Idahosa University will continue to increase in producing more first class students, as well as leverage on its achievements as a world-class institution.
