The Faculty of Science (formerly Faculty of Basic and Applied Science) welcome all stakeholders; students, staff, parents, guardian, well-wishers, to our web page. The Faculty is one of the foundation Faculties of Benson Idahosa University. Our motto is “Pioneering Excellence in Research and Innovation.”

The Faculty is fully committed to teaching, research and community service through our robust Faculty member’s commitment; well experienced in teaching and researches from Universities across the globe. All the programmes are designed with specific objectives and learning outcomes aimed at producing market-ready graduates in science and technology with appropriate IT skills and capacity for independent thinking and creativity. The programmes curricula are unique, robust, current and comparable to the best in the world and they promote a blend of intellectual skills and practical training, which help open the door to a bright career in specialist scientific areas as well as graduate employment. The Faculty also provides teaching and innovative research oriented training with emphasis on students’ centred active learning methods.

There are two Departments in the Faculty, namely; Department of Biological Sciences which offers programmes for award of B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology; while the Department Physical Sciences awards first degrees in major areas of Chemistry, Computer Science, Geophysics, Mathematics and Physics.

There have been a lot of research breakthroughs by staff and students in the areas of Biochemistry, Microbiology, Physics, Electronics and Computer Science.

No doubts, with the well experienced Faculty members, FBAS, as is fondly called is a place where changers of Nations for are being trained.
