Dean’s Welcome Message

Dr. (Mrs.) Ajayi Helen
Ag. Dean, FAAT

Welcome to the Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology. Being on our webpage, it shows you are interested in the disciplines that feeds the world and I will be glad to partner with you to make this happen.
Agriculture was a department under the then Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (now Faculty of Science) as a foundational programme in Benson Idahosa University. The Faculty of Agriculture and Agricultural Technology (FAAT) was born in 2011 to further enhance her capabilities to effectively produce graduates that will excel as professionals in Agriculture, contribute to the production of high-level leadership and produce quality manpower for the agricultural sector.
The Faculty is endowed with experienced and dedicated teaching and non-teaching staff as well as facilities for research. There are three (3) departments in the faculty: Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension Services, Department of Agronomy and Environmental Management and the Department of Animal Science and Animal Technology. FAAT is fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), to run the Bachelor of Agric. degree programmes with specializations in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Extension, Crop Science, Soil Science and Animal Science; and since 2012, she offers postgraduate degree programmes alongside the undergraduate degrees. We are
accredited to offer postgraduate diplomas, professional masters, academic masters and doctor of philosophy in Agricultural Economics, Agronomy and Animal Science disciplines.
Our students are exposed to intellectual and practical skills geared at tackling the challenges of rural and urban farmers, climate change and food security. FAAT is fully committed to excellence in agricultural development through teaching, research and community service.
I will be glad to have you join us, welcome!
