BENSON IDAHOSA UNIVERSITY RATED HIGH BY INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS OF NIGERIA (ICAN)

The accreditation team of ICAN visited Benson Idahosa University recently on a reaccreditation visit to the Department of Accounting under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences (FSMS).

The accreditation team of ICAN visited Benson Idahosa University recently on a reaccreditation visit to the Department of Accounting under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences (FSMS). The team was led by the Chairman, Prof Taiwo Ashaolu, and the incumbent Dean of his faculty in Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU). The team was received by the Dean of the FSMS, Prof F.O Eboreime, the Head of the Department of Accounting, Dr. Ruth O. Uroghide, and other Faculty and Departmental members.

At the courtesy and exit visit made by the ICAN Team to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Ernest B. Izevbigie, FNAI, Prof Ashaolu appreciated the university for its hospitality and lauded the university management for making remarkable improvements in areas that were spotted out in the last accreditation visit in 2011. He rated the university high in various areas which include staff and students’ dedication to work and studies, strength of character, Industrial Training (IT), and ICT. He however stressed on the need for improvement in staff training and development and the expansion of infrastructure to avoid overcrowding among other observations.

In his response, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Izevbigie, thanked the team for the visit, and appreciated the compliments made by ICAN to the University. He promised on behalf of the Management to improve on the areas mentioned by the team, stressing that he was impressed with the remarkable improvements made by the Department of Accounting from the last visit of ICAN to the University.
