Extolling the leadership qualities of the 20th Olu of Warri in a numerical calculation, the Vice Chancellor disclosed that the number twenty is represented by, two “x”, which according to him means, ‘double blessings’. He however noted that in recognition of his sterling qualities in leading the people of Warri as well as his contributions to societal development, the University Governing Council has approved the conferment of a honourary Doctor of Divinity on him at the 13th Convocation Ceremonies of the Institution in 2017.
In his response, the Olu of Warri expressed his appreciation to the University Management for the visit; saying that he is greatly honoured and humbled to be singled out for such recognition by the Institution. He added that the recognition is not just an honour to him, but to his entire kingdom. He therefore urged the Vice Chancellor and his Management team to convey his acceptance to the Chancellor, Archbishop M.E. Benson Idahosa. According to him, as a staunch member of the Church of God Mission International, he has established a branch church at his palace.
