Introduction:

Thinkers’ Nest is a Benson Idahosa University powered economic forum, designed to bring together thought leaders, industry experts, practitioners, researchers, and young innovators in the agricultural sector to dialogue and proffer solutions to real time agricultural challenges in Sub – Saharan Africa, with focus on prevention of the possible global food crisis as predicted by a UN backed committee in 2009.

The event is scheduled to hold on February 10th, 2016 at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, with the theme – “Food Crisis and Innovative Agriculture”.

 

The programme will also feature sub-themes which will be discussed by seasoned experts; as listed below:

  1. Maximizing Natural Resources via Agricultural Technology: The story of Israel and Lessons for Africa – Amb. Uriel Palti (Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria)
  2. Government Intervention in Agricultural Funding – Prof. Pat Utomi (CEO, Centre for Values in Leadership – CVL)
  3. The Role of Technology in Food Processing and Storage – Ndidi Nwuneli (CEO, LEAP Africa)
  4. Marketing Strategies for Farm Produce and Products – Leke Alder (CEO, Alder Consulting)
  5. Changing Nigerians Mindset on Agriculture – Mrs. Mavi Isibor (CEO, Poise Nigeria)

This programme positions Benson Idahosa University to gain strategic partnership for her proposed Integrated Farm Project; and as a leader in tackling food crisis in sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, it also identifies the university as a key player in innovations in agricultural technology in the region.
