The Faculty of Basic Medical and Health Sciences is the youngest in Benson Idahosa University. The Faculty aims at producing quality graduates in Nursing Science (Bachelor of Nursing Science, B.N.Sc) and Medical Laboratory Science (Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) well
grounded in the knowledge and ethics of their professions, and ready to render quality service at home and abroad. Anatomy and Physiology Units will serve as Support Units for these two programmes for the time being. Although the faculty runs two programmes at the moment, it is
hoped that as time goes on, the support units, namely Physiology and Anatomy will evolve into departments housing the BSc programmes in those disciplines. In the very near future Resource Verification / Accreditation will be sort from NUC for the Anatomy (B. Sc. Anatomy), and Physiology (B. Sc. Physiology) programmes for them to be upgraded to fully fledged Departments. The two programmes, Nursing Science and Medical Laboratory Science will also be serviced by the Faculty of Science (in the areas of Biochemistry, Botany, Mathematics, Microbiology, and Zoology courses), which has placed its staff and laboratory facilities at the disposal of the emerging Faculty.
