TWELVE (12) LAW GRADUATES BAGGED FIRST CLASS AT THE NIGERIAN LAW SCHOOL.

Twelve graduates from the Faculty of Law, Benson Idahosa University, recently bagged first class at the 2023 Nigerian Law School (NLS) Bar Examination held in November 2023. This remarkable success not only highlights the academic prowess of our students, but also reflects the high standards of education and preparation provided by Benson Idahosa University’s Faculty of Law.  In the results released by the Council for Legal Education (CLE), where 5,308 candidates sat for the examination, a notable 251 individuals, representing 5 percent of the total candidates made first class.  Given that, the number of universities in Nigeria, approved by the CLE to sit for the NLS bar examinations as at 2023, is sixty-eight (68), the feat achieved by these 12 gemstones can simply be described as, “AWESOME”.

Receiving the news at the Heritage Campus of the University, the Ag. Vice Chancellor and Chairman of the Senate of Benson Idahosa University, Prof. Johnson O. Oyedeji, expressed joy and gratitude on behalf of the Management and senate of the university, to the staff and students of the Faculty of Law. “These extraordinary individuals have defied expectations, showcasing their unparalleled dedication, intellect, and sheer determination…from the hallowed halls of BIU, adorned in “white and black” to the prestigious podiums of law school, they’ve navigated the complexities of jurisprudence with finesse, flair and excellence”. He also attributed this achievement to the professionalism, strong academic resource and ethics exhibited at the university.

Also reacting to this remarkable news, the Ag. Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Idehen, was joyous and elated. In her words, “we, the staff and students of the Faculty of Law are elated and joyous over the successful result that was recorded by the 12 first class graduates. We are proud of them and thank God for a resounding success.”

The graduates, who expressed their happiness and heartfelt appreciation to the faculty staff and lecturers for their unwavering support, also applauded the faculty for imparting knowledge and ensuring their success in the rigorous journey towards academic excellence.
