The Vice Chancellor of Benson Idahosa University, Prof Ernest Izevbigie said 169 ex-agitators had graduated with first class and second class degrees in upper and lower divisions from Benson Idahosa University.

He disclosed this during an award-giving ceremony for the beneficiaries of the presidential amnesty programme at the Benson Idahosa University in Benin, Edo State.

Four of the beneficiaries were offered automatic employment by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie on behalf of the governing council and the School management.

He also commended the Federal Government for the initiative which he said had been instrumental in re-integrating the ex-agitators into the society.

Reacting to the achievement, The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh said the partnership between the Federal Government and the University had been effective in the socialization of the beneficiaries.

Boroh who was represented by the Head of Education (onshore) of the presidential amnesty office, Maj. Kesiena Mowari (retd.), said that currently, the presidential amnesty programme has about 2,600 delegates in over 30 domestic academic institutions and the Nigerian Law School, under the education unit of the programme established in 2011.

“Indeed, it is a privilege and an honour to also mention that the programme has thus far achieved about 200 first class and second class upper graduates through institutions like Benson Idahosa University” he said

“Benson Idahosa University has been a partnering institution with the Presidential Amnesty programme since December 2011 when an initial batch of 159 Amnesty delegated were admitted into this noble institution” He added

According to him the working relationship with the university has been extremely cordial and productive

The Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, thanked the University for training the students to become useful members of the society and epitome of good behavior to others.

The Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom further said that it is a thing of Joy to know that eight of the students made First class.

During the award ceremory, Chief Brown Mede who represented the Olu of Warri commended the program as a right step in the right direction.

He added that they are glad with the partnership scheme with the University, and encouraged the University to keep up on their good works.

Her urged the Students to imbibe the values that they have been thought while in school as there are a lot of things they can add to their immediate environment

One of the benefactors, Fianka Diamond, thanked the University for making him whom he is today.

On his part, Ikpaazaere Deborah said that her four years at Benson Idahosa University was a great experience which cannot easily be forgotten.

The lecture time, chapel time, cell time, morning devotions all put together made me a success” she said.

She added that the University has qualified staff members who are ready to build and mold students, who are willing to attain academic excellence.

The Presidential Amnesty Programme was conceived as a National response to stabilize the security situation in The Niger Delta in order to permit economic recovery, development and investment in the Region in particular and The Nation in general.

In furtherance of a partnership between Benson Idahosa University and Delaware State University, The president of Delaware State University, Dr Harry Lee Williams and his team recently paid a courtesy visit to the campus to strengthen partnership talks on research, seed technology, forage production, Live-stock breeding and curriculum development with the University management.

Speaking during the visit The President Delaware State University, Dr Harry said the visit was to discuss possible areas of partnership that will be beneficial to the two Universities.

The President of Benson Idahosa University, Bishop F.E.B. Idahosa, who led the Delaware State team on an inspection tour around the University, expressed satisfaction and confidence of the University Management that the partnership would play a great role in moving the University closer to its core purpose of changing Nigeria.

He noted that this partnership was part of the transformation agenda of the University to reposition Nigeria and make it a hub in Africa

President F.E.B. Idahosa with Benson Idahosa University Law students whom emerged 1st position at the 6th International Humanitarian Law Moot Competition that took place at Lagos State University last month.

Today they depart the University Campus for ICRC headquarters in Abuja where they will be briefed and intimated with certain things about the upcoming 16th all Annual African Moot Court Competition on International Humanitarian Law holding at Arusha, Tanzania.

The Young and aspiring Diplomats will be attending a Diplomatic Conference at the National Assembly. Also the team will visit some Diplomatic High Commissions in Abuja.

“Prior to the commencement of the competition, we invested a lot of effort, time, dedication and prayers into the competition” Before our first appearance in court, we felt fear at the sight of students from other federal and state universities rehearsing to the extent that one of our counsels proposed that we also adopt similar modus operandi.

Life Success Centre (LSC) under the aegis of Benson Idahosa University recently held a tweet conference to acquaint its alumni and final year students with the principles of life success.

The Conference tagged “Ten successful things people do by age 30” took place over the weekend and had the President of Benson Idahosa University, Bishop Faith Emmanuel Benson Idahosa as the tweet host.

During the tweet session he told them that successful people begin each day by not just waking up, but ensuring that they wake up their dreams and visions daily.

The lead discussant, also added that whether you are 20, 30, or 50 years of age, the principles of success remains the same.

“The most successful leaders are probably those who failed the most times on their way to where they are today” he said

He further advised the youths to keep learning as the day they stop learning is the day they start dying adding that all successful people have failed at least once, and they failed early , failure did not kill them, it grew them
